I guess both good food and reasonable prices in a congested tourist area is too much to expect. We ate here for lunch and while the food was good (not great) $20 to $30 for a lunch entree is too much. We elected to split a tossed salad and received chopped iceberg with a slice of tomato, a slice of cucumber, and one olive for $6.95. I had basically the same meal 3 days later in Astoria, OR with better food, larger portions and a much better view for $14.00. This was our first visit to Fisherman's Wharf in 40 years; oh for the good old days.

This is a top notch restaurant. Outstanding food, even for vegetarians, the service was what you expect at a 5 stars restaurant and the wine list reflects the region's reputation for excellent wines. Highly recommend!

I really can't add much to the other reviews except I agree to those who love it here. I am an East Coaster, but my family introduced me to the Grotto when I was young and I am still grateful. When in the city it is worth fighting the traffic down to the Warf for dinner. The food is close to perfect, the service will not disappoint you and the view is breathtaking.

They're not lieing down there below me, ,, the crab here rules. I hate to even admit that I frequent Wharf locations but I do come here occasionally for the Crab Louies, ,just like everyone else. It's just hard for me to recommend anything in this area but if you must or if you have family from out of town visiting that want to make the trek, ,, take them here and they'll love you!!

I come here for several reasons, but the GIANT crab louis, beautiful view, and good service are three. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the interior. Hire a decorator please!

A friend (and long-time bay resident) brought me here. The service was excellent and food was wonderful. They have a special combination platter that allows you to try a little of all their major entrees. The view overlooking the fishing boats was gorgeous, with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. I would definitely recommewnd this to tourists visiting the Bay area.

This is the place to go on the warf, in my opinion. Reasonable prices for great seafood. An amazing view. Great service.

WOW I really had a good time here what great food! It is a funny story actually. We were waiting for a table in the beautiful upstairs bar a few weeks ago and we heard a very loud commotion. It was a guy by himself claiming to be an internet food critic and wanting a free meal. Funny thing about it is I see his name here on the list of people who reviewed this place. Well, he insisted that he would give the place a bad review if they didnt give him a free meal (keep in mind this guy didnt even have a business card!) and the very nice matre d' politely said he couldnt do that cause it would be like a bribe and the guy freaked out! Now I see his name here with a very bad review. What a jerk. You know who you are. I just felt like it was my duty to tell you all that and let youknow that this place is great. We went in because it is a little cheaper than all the other restaurants on the wharf but the food was a hundred times better!! I dont think it is overpriced though considering how much that rent has to be with that amazing view of the sunset over the gg bridge! Plus I bought dungenous crab meat at safeway for $23 a pound and the crab louies are like $21 with at least a pound of crab and the cracked crab is almost 2 lbs for like 23 bucks. People who think it is overpriced no nothing about seafood. I had a great time and love the tradition aspect of the place.

Another of the excellent seafood restaurants on Fishermen's Wharf.
Very lively, colorful, with excellent views of the Bay. Great seafood available, with attentive service. This restaurant goes back to my school days and the memories are still there.
For casual diing, business smeetings, or late night dinners for 2, this is an excellent restaurant.

My wife and I eat here often. We reside in the Bay area and can truthfully say that we have tried dining literally in every sea food restaurant at Fisherman's Wharf, and find ourselves returning to the Fisherman's Grotto. Their prices are very reasonable especially considering the ambiance and the excellent service they provide. We recently entertained 20 of our friends there, and again the service and food were "awesome". I'm still getting "thank you" notes from our invited guests that were there with us, and they to have become "fans" of the Grotto. Hats Off to Mr. Geraldi for continuing a fine family tradition.

Impeccable service and unbeatable view, matched with excellent food and good wine. Can't ask for much more :-) Maybe it was the company, or the fact that it was the first evening of a wonderful vacation, but the experience was wonderful !!

It draws the out of town visitors at highly inflated prices for mediocre food. What more could we ask for?

I've eaten here two or three times a year for over 10 years. The food is consistantly good and the service is very good. This is one of the few places where the cocktails are also consistantly good as they are served by a "real" professional bartender. For San Fransisco, the price is about right considering the food, drinks, view and service.
