A favorite place when we are in SF. New management, and if anything, it was the best meal there ever. Very good service, and the menu is the kind of one where it is hard to make up your mind. Everything we ordered was outstanding. I haven't given 5 stars on Dine.com yet, but will for the Elite Cafe.

One of my favorite places for Sunday brunch (and less crowded than for dinner). Omelette entrees are interesting and delicious

Dinner is a bit more expensive than brunch but also very good,

particularly the gumbo and the baby back ribs. Worth the wait if you have the time. Nice place to go to before

heading down Fillmore to the Kabuki theatre complex.

Just ate at the Elite for the first time in about 5 years, and to bring this thread up-to-date, the food is still very, very, good. If I could do 4.5 stars I would. <br> The gumbo was excellent, and my mussels with an aioli sauce was as well. My wife's sea bass was a bit over cooked, but the seasoning was outstanding.

We fell in love with this place. For 2 people, we went crazy and ordered way too much food, but managed to finish it all--goes to tell you how good it was!
The BBQ shrimp is served in a cast iron skillet--huge and plump with a terrific sauce and you should see how well it's cooked! The mussels were delicious too! Try the turtle soup--nice zing! The other soup was great as well (can't remember which one but it's a popular one). And this was before we even got to the mains!

We went about 3 months ago, but it's still fresh in our minds. Prices tend to be on the higher side, but well worth the taste and quality. Wait staff is EXCELLENT and very ATTENTIVE! Parking is a habitual chore, especially on Fillmore Street. Make sure you make reservations. It can and is usually quite loud inside. Be adventurous when you dine here! Makes you want to book a trip to NAWLENS!!!

Very busy for dinner. Food is good to very good. What prevents from giving this place another star is the ambience. This place is one long corridor, it's narrow and the booth are small and cramped, not conducive for people watching, although if you go with a group of very close friends and they don't mind being cozy, it can be fun. Lots of people+small place=noisy, not good for a romantic date.

The food here is always consistantly wonderful. The main menu offers great cajun standards and the nightly specials help to mix in a californian flair.Once you get to know the staff they treat you like royalty and once you learn who the chef is (David Mahler) and who the maitre d's are, your in like Flynn. Reservations are not excepeted unless you have a party of 8 or more, so the best times to go are early in the week when there is never more than a short wait. Their sunday brunch is the best kept secret in San Francisco - wonderful food and never a wait.

Although the service can be a bit snooty, I've never been disapointed with the food. Try the pork medalions. The bread (from acme) is terrific.

Good if you like spicy. Pretty much everything here is, including the Martinis, a specialty of theirs which is made with pepper vodka. (Not a real Martini in my book, but it was good just the same.) Parking on and around Fillmore is always a hassle.

Wonderful stuff; best Cajun in the Bay Area. Early diners will be able to get seated right away, but expect a wait during prime time (they don't do reservations); Great oyster bar and try the garlic bread.
