Fantastic! This is without a doubt the best restaurant in Redwood City. I have eaten here at least 10 time in the last two months and they seem to get better every time. The service is excellent, the food terrific, and the wine list very well thought out. I have to say it has become my favorite restaurant

This is one of the best lunch places I've found around here so far. That may not be saying much, but if you work in the area and want a good sit down lunch with a nice menu, Mistral will do fine.
Though I typically go after lunch hours (2p), the service is always very good at that time.
I usually order the ceaser which is very good (though they ought to chop the whole lettuce leavves just a little before serving) and the cheese raviolli with asparagus and pine nuts. That dish isn't great (because of the mediocre raviolli filling), but it does the job for a veggetarian meal.

I agree with G. Gfroerer. If you look at the reviews below, and notice the dates of review (except for Jennifer), you will find a trend. I too live in the "shores" and have been going to Mistrals for years. They used to be much much better. Lately it seems that it's production line feeding and they are really only sticking their hand out waiting for the Orecalonians to wait out the commute. Their sister restrurant ATovola's on Laurel Street in San Carlos is better, but the service attitude mimics Mistrals (not very professional). That's just my opinion, I could be wrong

We live in the Shores here and thought it would be great to have a restaurant within walking distance. Alas, Mistral doesn't live up to our expectations. Food is mediocre at best, except for the pizzas. There always seems to be something "off" about the food. Wine list is good if overpriced. Service is lacking. Checks presented while eating dessert. Overall not very good for the area. We don't go back now. C'est la vie.

Exceptional food, great service, beautiful setting and the best wine list on the peninsula! Love all the appetizers, but don't miss the duck confit potstickers or the oak-fired shrimp. Great endive and apple salad. For entrees, try the rack of lamb or the angel hair. You also can't go wrong with any of the pizzas from the wood-fired oven. If you can't find the bottle of wine you're looking for on the list, ask the staff, they've always been helpful to me. Overall a great experience.

This is my favorite restaurant in Redwood City/Shores. The location is beautiful since it is located on the lagoon, and the Californian/Italian food is excellent. The fresh bread that they bring you is right out-of-the wood-burning stove and still warm. I would recommend the pizza and pasta dishes, but the salads are good too. Great atmosphere if you want a little noise.

NO attention to detail. Ceiling had water stains. Table server brought WET wine glasses and set them on the wrong side of the table setting. The main course came to our table BEFORE our two appetizers! Our bread basket arrived when we were seated and was never filled again. When the main course (saffron risotto) was fired for the second time, we had to send it back due to watery texture and lack of flavor. Our table server brought a salad fork to eat the main course with. The appetizers we ordered were very good-spring rolls and scallops but overall it was well below average. We won't go back!

Great food. Good to very good service. Excellent desserts: Apple strudel (more of a burrito with a filo crust) and hot berry cobbler. Noisy at times, but pleasant atmosphere.
