We like Korean food and have been to other Korean restaurants before.
This is the first time we went to Koreana and would be the last one. First
of all their food quality didn't justify their high price at all.
The food is overly sweetened and boring. Now let's talk about their
services. We have two small kids and they didn't even give them
a bottle water until we asked twice. We went there for one lady's
birthday but they didn't have anything for the birthday person,
they didn't even say "happy birthday" after we told
them that! You felt like they didn't welcome you to eat there. Finally,
the bill. They didn't count the kids when they provided services,
don't take it for granted for the bill!!! They counted the kids
into the total head count and charged 18% gratuity (I do not type it wrong)
automatically! What a rip off we had! No wonder why the parking lot is
empty all the time. Anyway, we will never go back again. And if you really
like Korean food, the Korean house on Anderson lane is way much better
than this one.

A bit disappointed. I ordered pork bulgoki and instead of being spicy
it was actually almost sickly sweat with a very off taste. The closest
thing I can relate the off taste to is a dirty pan or dirty grill. I am certain
that is not it but that is the closest explanation of the taste. The sides
were fair But not great. I thought they were actually a bit tasteless.
Most people I talked to came to Koreana for the Sushi which I did not try
so can not say much about.
I have eaten Korean food all over the world including Chinhae Korea
which I lived in when I was in the navy. I hope I can find better here in
Austin as this was average at best.
The restaurant however is very nice looking with a dark rather romantic
feeling. The service was fair but not overly attentive.
For Sushi perhaps it is worth giving this a try for Korean I would not
really recommend it.

I just experienced a world class dining experience this last
Sat. (Nov. 9, 2002)at the French Laundry. There was a group of
6 of us (cannot have any more than 6 in the main dining area), and
we all were in awe over the quiet ambience, impeccable service,
and world class menu at our fingertips. The chef/owner Tom Keller
has definitely nailed down what the human palate enjoys! A good
way to describe the service was like a synchronized ballet among
the servers, even down to the placement of the plates upon the
table. There is no music, this place is very small, very simply
decorated, and the building itself is so simple you would never
know it was a chateau relais world class restaurant. It's
its
simple elegance matched with food that is basically a "beautiful
orchestra" to your palate that make this restaurant, in
my opinion,
number 1 in the bay area. Although pricey, (our bill came to $250.00/per
person by the end of the evening), it is definitely a dining experience
you don't want to miss in your lifetime. Highly recommend
it!
Bon Appetit!
