Excellent atmosphere with unique food. Excellent margaritas,
especially the mango frozen margarita. Outstanding main courses
and appetizers. Food and drink prices are high, but the quality
and distict layout and design of the restaurant make it a worthwhile
dining experience.

This is one of the finest Mexican restaurants I have ever been
to. It was recommended to us
by one of the locals while we had a stay over in Austin. The food
was wonderful as well
as the atmosphere . Our waiter was great and made us feel at home.
Fonda San Miguel is a must visit if your ever in Austin, and toss
down a couple of
those margaritas

The food here is simply phenomenal. Combine this with the wonderfully
serene atmosphere and it makes for one of the best dining experiences
in the Austin area. I recommend the queso as an appetizer....it's
different from what you've had before.

One of Austins first classic Interior Mexican restaurants and
still the best. Beautiful atmosphere, professional service
and creative dishes all make for a great dining experience. Come
early and enjoy drinks in the atrium.

The overall experience of dining at Fonda San Miguel is wonderful.
Not only is the food fantastic, but the atmosphere and decor are
absolutely fabulous. Go there for Sunday brunch. You can sip
on
mango margaritas while you enjoy a heaping plate of cochinita
pibil(barbecued pork wrapped in banana leaves). The huitlacoche
(weet-la-coach-ay) mushrooms with shrimp is a meal I will not

Beautiful restaurant, beautiful food! I had the delight of attending
one of Fonda San Miguel's Sunday brunches. (Prix fixe around
25.00) There is not much good parking (but valet service is available)
and it was rather crowded. But the waiting area is a serene tropical
paradise with exotic foilage and places to sit.
The food was elegant and elegantly presented (no plastic breath
guards and strong smelling sterno here). One of the main dishes
was a pumpkin chicken. There were several salads. Of the vegetables
my favorite was the corn pudding- rich and flavorful. I do not
care for spicy food and there were many dishes that were mild and
wonderful and also some spicy dishes that my more brave companions
enjoyed. The desserts were lovely- I especially enjoyed the
blackberry pudding and almond flan. The homemade tortillas
were warm and delicious too. Lime-ade was the perfect drink accompaniment
to all the interesting flavors and textures available to feast
on! The dress was fairly formal and the waitstaff were nice.
