This changed to Ristorante Portofino a few years ago. I went there w/ my hubby tonight and we were super impressed! We got there a half hour before our reservations, but we were seated immediately. We arrived at 7pm and the place was virtually empty. We were seated in a wonderful high rounded booth overlooking the roaring ocean. I ordered a virgin Strawberry Daiquiri and please note that we have lived along the coast for 8 months now and have been to every restaurant along the coast that offers strawberry daiquiris and not one has served one that uses fresh strawberries! So this was my first test of the place. To my extreme surprise and happiness it was the exact taste I was hoping for. I tasted the fresh strawberries and the daiquiri had a wonderful flavor, tangy, sweet bite to it. They have a vast menu of options and this is coming from a Vegetarian. This is the first restaurant along the coastline here that has offered more then maybe 3 options max that I can eat and for my salmon eating vegetarian hubby it's the first place that has offered more then one salmon dish. This place offers 4 straight salmon dishes along w/ 3-4 salmon pasta dishes. That's amazing! I ordered the Ravioli Asparagi which is asparagus stuffed ravioli's in a cheese sauce. I have never seen asparagus raviolis in my life! Hubby ordered the garlic olive oil salmon which came w/ a side of fresh steamed spinach and a side of rigatoni pasta. Took about 15-20 for food to arrive which was fine. We had free bread on the table w/ olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I must highly recommend the Ravioli Asparagus as it's amazing! Even for those who are nuts and do not like asparagus will probably like it! Full of flavor and the cheese sauce isn't so thick that's it's overwhelming or super filling on it's own. I could tell the raviolis were homemade and they were stuffed almost full w/ yumminess. Came w/ many raviolis as where some fancier restaurants charge the same price $17-$18 and give you like 5 raviolis. They are actually the best raviolis I have ever had and that says a whole lot. His salmon was caked in chunks of garlic which he was very happy with! They even removed the skin which we have come to find is rare for the restaurants along the coast here. Our waiter was super friendly and funny. He kept making us pronounce our dishes when we ordered because it was clear we had a slight handicap in that area, but he did it in a very cute way. We asked for the dessert menu and got the most extensive dessert menu I had ever seen in a restaurant! It even came w/ pictures of each dessert! That's just cruel! Usually there's just 1 dessert on any dessert menu I would care to try, but I was so overwhelmed w/ the plethora of options of this menu as was I the entree menu that it took me a good 10 min to narrow it down. They had just about anything you may crave w/ amazing looking chocolate desserts! We ordered the chocolate mousse pastry balls which are rolled in white chocolate cream. They were good and not overly rich, but filling none the less. Came w/ whipped cream and raspberry drizzle. Hubby ordered a Baily's coffee and it came in a large coffee house sized glass/mug w/ whipped cream and a cherry. This place was excellent and we are so overly pleased we found it! The best restaurant along the coast so far so a nice evening out. Here's their restaurant link and their on-lien menu is accurate. <br> http://www.ristorante-portofino.com/

JUST GOT BACK FROM A WEDDING HELD AT THE MOONRAKER AND LIGHTHOUSE HOTEL. THE VIEWS WERE WONDERFUL OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN AND MADE A STUNNING BACKDROP FOR A WEDDING. WE MUST HAVE HIT THE WAIT STAFF AND THE RESTAURANT ON A BAD NIGHT THOUGH. ALTHOUGH THE FOOD FOR THE MOST PART WAS EXCELLENT, THE WAITRESS WAS SLOW AND ALMOST SNAPPED AT YOU WHEN ASKING FOR A GLASS OF WATER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT GIVEN A DIFFERENT WAITRESS.

We understand it's under new management and has been recently remodeled. We arrived 1/2 hour before sunset and viewed a breath-taking sunset in a most romantic and intimate setting. Besides the ambiance, the food was delicious, and the wait staff was attentative, too.

The sunday brunch is worth the cost and the wait. The service was a little unattentive but the food more than makes up for this. The prices seem consistant with other San Francisco Resturants.

Since I have visited this restaurant twice after reviewing comments on your web, I have two responses. The first time my party and I were well treated and was seated at a table which took advantage of the view. The service was excellent; the mood was great; the food was very good. The second time I visited Moonracker, my reservations were not honored and had to sit next to a party of about 10 (very noisy); the food was good; the service was fair-poor (recognized that the lady waiting on us was new and I understood). Noise was high. I might try this establishment again, but am concerned of the consistancy of what might be found there. It has the potential, due to location, to be a great redevoux. Had Filet & lobster - the filet was wonderful, but the lobster was overcooked and a little tough.

Great view! Almost every table in the restaurant has a terrific view of the Pacific Ocean. Good place to watch the sunset. I went there on a Saturday evening. There was a piano player playing on a grand piano in the lounge. The music was broadcasted throughout the restuarant. The food was excellent. I ordered the steak and lobster. The lobster was exceptional. The vegetable was on the salty side. I guess the cook must have put salt in it at least twice by mistake. Overall, the atmosphere and food were excellent. A little bit on the pricy side, but its worth it.

Stopped in for a cocktail and to enjoy a nice sunset-did both and had a splendid time. The staff are extremely pleasant and attentive. Had a chance to meet the manager and owner, two genuinely pleasant and caring people. Overall, it was a great time. I highly recommend a stop at this fine restaurant, as well as the Lighthouse Hotel on the premises. Oh yeah, the martini was to die for!

I've never seen a view from the beach so spectacular. We arrived about ten minutes before sunset and watched the suin go down to the sounds of the surf (it's cold, bring a big jacket) The restaurant itself is alright, it's a bit too expensive for the food and service, but the decor is actually pretty nice. The lighting is dim and romantic, I would recommend coming in a while before sunset and just having a drink while taking in the spectaular view.

Stunning views of the Pacific from any table. Well known for their abalone, paella, rack of lamb, and seafood. For dessert try the chocolate covered creme brulee.
