For authentic Persian fare, Ali Baba is the ONLY place to go in Birmingham, LITERALLY! The restaurant is fairly small and a little hard to locate the first time, but it is well worth the effort. The staff is extremely polite and can answer any question you might pose about the selections, their ingredients, and the preparation style. The atmosphere is charming and family oriented by day and quietly intimate at night. I recommend everything, but the walnut and pomegranate sauce they offer for some of the meat dishes is absolutely a must try. Call for info on a less expensive lunch buffet on weekends.
