The service, take out in particular, is very so so. The rice is absolutely dry and comes out a block. I think they package it well in advance, and it is dry and hard. I once complained about a dish and the response was less than polite. Though they offered to replace it, they don't seem to keep track of it. When I called to replace, they acted as if I was trying to steal food. A very unpleasant experience. I refused to go back for months. I have eaten in great Chinese restaurants, including in China. This is Chinese poor to mediocre, and tastes best when you are really hungry and cannot discriminate between food and nonfood. Eventually, they will gradually go out of business.

The food is of excellant taste and quality - and there is plenty of it. This is my office's choice of Chinese carry out in this area. We also have eaten there on many occassions, and have always been pleased with the food and service. We took friends visiting from out of town and they were very impressed!

The food is quite good. The vegetarian dishes are very tasty, if somewhat contrived as are most Chinese-American dishes.
The service was absent minded: The appetizer came without diner’s dishes. The entrees were served five minutes apart. Since one was vegetarian and one meat, it meant that the first dish became cold while we politely waited for the second. Finally, the check was from a table with a bill twice as high as ours. I have been traveling all over the USA and eaten at hundreds of restaurants and this has never happened before.
The atmosphere is a mixed bag: The fish tank is amazing. However, the vibration of the air conditioning is quite disturbing and intrusive, and the urine-like odor of the entrance and lobster display area is sickening.

This is the Chinese restaurant against which all others are measured in the area. It is a very nice place to eat, from the entry to the dining rooms. Service can vary based on the server and their mastery of english and their interpersonal skills, but the food is consistantly good. The prices are not cheap, but are very fair for the portion sizes. The bar is nice, and they have a separate waiting area for take-out (a booming business in its own right).
If you want to linger over your dinner, make that known to both the host and the waiter right away. Otherwise their prevailing attitude is 'feed them and move them out'. So if you help set the appropriate stage, you will be well satisfied.

This has to be the best Chinese take out restaurant in Maryland. The food is always ready on time, and the portions are very large. I cannot believe the prices have remained so low. Myself and coworkers (20 of us) have always been happy and never had an order messed up. This is one of the few Chinese restaurants where the speak Chinese.

This is probably the best 'Americanized' Chinese food in Columbia. I do not recommend dining there as the staff can often be a bit brusque and there is no real ambiance. But, for ordering carry out, they operate like an incredibly well oiled machine. Food is pretty good.

Unfortunately my experience was not as positive as the other reviewers. The service was just OK. The food was not. I had a beef dish that was supposed to be spicey. It was little more than bland. The beef was tough and chewy. Worst of all, there was so much celery in the dish that it overwhelemed the other flavors. The sauce on all the dishes seemed to be the same with a little crushed pepper added to the dishes that were supposed to be spicey. I notice that many of the items on the menu list celery as part of the dish. My experience is that restaurants that use a lot of celery as filler leave much to be desired. That is the case with this restaurant. The Chinese have a saying, MA MA HU HU, that transulates roughly to SO-SO. This restaurant is most definitely MA MA HU HU.

I have been there three times (1 time for lunch and 2 times for dinner.) The food is good overall. Once it was great. The service is inconsistant. One time good and twice slow with little attentiveness. It is probably the best in the immediate area, but not the best that I have had.

I'm proud to have put this one on "the map" so to speak, for this site, and I want to say that getting back there recently reminded me of just how great a place it was.
The first thing I noticed when I came in is they earned the accolade of being among the Top 10 Places to celebrate New Years by USA Today!

I had an hour to get in and out and get to the nearby Hopkins satelitte school. I was able to order a half a Peking duck and still enjoy it leisurely with my tea. I also noticed the addition of live lobster tanks, which I didn't remember being there last go around.
Makes me fret not having to make the trip to Columbia, almost...

The Hunan Manor quickly became a favorite, having created a grand impression the first time my brother (who lived in the neighboring community at one time), took me there.
Their menu is probably the most extensive I've seen and the "Manor" is beautiful inside and out. In particular, I can credit the restaurant with instilling my strong fondness for Singapore Noodles (curried thin rice noodles with House meats and carmalized onion), although I had fatter rice noodles, and other dishes as well. Nothing was short of spectacular and presentation was an extra cut above...

This is one of the finest places for Asian cuisine I know of.

This is the BEST Chinese restaurant for the $ one could ever hope for. For a very special treat try the lettuce wrapped chicken appetizer. Everything is delicious and best of all the food is consiistent from visit to visit. The taste is the deal.

Good quality food, well cooked, and they're not afraid of garlic or hot peppers when asked to use them. Spice levels can be a bit on the low side if you like very spicy food, but they'll generally bring more peppers if asked.
Can be a bit crowded at lunchtime -- go early to get a table if you have a large (greater than 2 or 3) party. It's also common to have what appears to be real estate office luncheons there, which tend to be a bit loud.
Lunch specials are a real bargain -- $6 or so for an entree plus soup and egg roll with tea.

Chinese food very good. Although I have had better, and the service could use some help. Overall the atmosphere is very nice, and the Chinese is certainly above average.
For a good pleasant Chinese dinner, this place is highly recommended for a meal that runs around $8.

Very good Chinese Restaurant. Pleasant staff at all times. Clean and neat building with a waterfall as you walk in the front door.

I eat here about 2 a month and have never had bad food or service for over 3 years.
