After reading many positive reviews in the weekly papers for years about Zachary's , Barbara & I finally made it here for lunch. At 2:30 PM the place was packed with ecstatic customers. The room is sort'a funky, very populist, and smells divine with food aromas. We ordered a thin crust pizza with vegetables even though we saw all others ordering the Chicago Style deep dish.

There are several other negative reviews posted for this place by folks complaining about the big fat doughy Chicago deep dish pizza. Well, DUH! When you see other people eating a 5 inch thick pizza monster and you do not like that kind - Don't order it! The more Italain style thin crust is just as good, even better for its modesty.

This is about the best Pizza I've eaten since I left my hometown of NYC in 1970. The cornmeal crust is crunchy & delicious. The sauce is the perfect mix of aromatic, slightly spicy, fresh tomato without the acid bite. The cheese amount was perfect & creamy. Good quality ingredients! I drank a pint of tap beer. Barbara had a glass of wine. We got a big bottle of fizzy water. A perfect lunch. I now tell other ex-pat New Yorkers who complain about poor quality west coast pizza to visit this place. Beats 99% of NY pizza places for flavor and pure eating satisfaction.

All Zachary's have the absolutely best pizza in the Bay Area, but try to stop by right before the big lunch or dinner rush. You can even buy an already made pizza and put it in the oven at home!!! A MUST stop for me!!

Extremely delicious Pizza. To be really honest - the only type of Pizza I like. It is not like a salty cookie, it is a real dish becasue it has enough filling and not only the bread part.

Every single time I would visit the sisters in the Bay area, I had to make a stop at this place---the best pizza on the west coast, hands down. You will want to take one home after finishing one there!!

One of, if not the best pizza place in the whole Bay Area. Great pizza with tons of choices. Their sauce is the best I have ever tasted.

This is the best Chicago style pizza and they also do great thin style pizzas. Their ingrediants are really fresh and if you love tomatoes, you will get your wish. (my mouth is watering even as I write this). I took some Australians here and they were absolutely in love. They joked around about trying to take come 1/2 baked back with them. This is a must for you if you haven't already tried it. Seating is hard, but worth the wait. Try going on a weekday for lunch instead. They do sell slices at lunch. Also, they feature specials all the time. My favorites are chicken stuffed, good health stuffed or thin, and a thin crust with sausage, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Also, this is also better than what I have had in Chicago.

Best pizza in the bay area- bar none. Huge slices, good prices, what more can you ask for? My only complaint is the wait. I guess good things come to those who wait.

Best pizza on this coast if you ask me. The wait is always long but the pizza is soooo big and fat you can not believe. I would suggest putting your name down and then getting some coffee or tea for a bit. You can usually pre-order while in line which is nice.

don't forget that this place only takes cash!!!
they've got some good pizza. i always get the deep dish, never the thin crust. i recommend the good health pizza. it's really great. other than that, they've got some great pizzas, n' i guess you might just want to try them all.
they have a few beers and wines to compliment their food, but not too many.

I've tried this place twice and was disappointed twice. It's PACKED. It gets rave reviews. It's just ordinary pizza with very little flavor though, in my opinion. The toppings are typical and boring. Cheeseboard Pizza on Shattuck is far superior (though it has a different style of pie). Cugini on Solano is better. I don't want to be contemptuous but I think Domino's is better. So it goes.

Best Chicago-style I've had west of the Mississippi. Way better than Pizza Chicago in the South Bay. The place is really *crowded*, however. Get there early, call ahead, etc.

Zachary's serves one of my favorite pizzas in the Bay Area. I like both the deep dish style and also the thin crust which has a nice cornmeal crust. After my first slice of Zachary's, I haven't gone near one of those 'chain' pizza's like Pizza Hut or Domino's.

Great pizza, the second best I've ever had, but they seriously need to triple their dining space. Next time, I'll try it at 3 p.m. They lose a full star for that, and another for accepting cash only. I'd give them 3.5 if I could, but I won't jump it to 4.

Anybody who does not think this is the best pizza in the universe doesn't like pizza and should be disregarded. Zach's is a cult classic. It has been one of the best things in the Bay Area and in my life for almost 20 years.

Zachary's definitely serves my favorite pizza in the Bay Area. I always order the stuffed pizza and am never disappointed. If I lived closer, I'd go more often, but make the drive 1-2 times a year to get my fix. I returned home with some leftovers, and my 21-month son devoured his first piece of Zachary's; my husband's reaction: "Is there some left for me?!"
A note: if you don't enjoy tangy tomato flavor or like chunky tomato sauce, you won't like the stuffed pizza which has a thick layer of chunky tomato sauce on the top. I'd steer you to the thin crust, which I understand is also very good.
