July 25, 2009 My wife and I dined at Shaw’s Crab House on Sat night, and it was fantastic. We have eaten out at a lot of restaurants, and we can honestly say that Shaw’s (either Chicago or Schaumburg) still has it going on, and is top of our list for consistent, quality seafood and shellfish. The food is always prepared right, with great service, and the dining room is comfortable, where you can relax and enjoy your meal. Here was our dinner/all worthy selections: Start with their hand-shucked dozen assortment of oysters (Chicago Magazine just voted “the best” oysters), then their famous jumbo lump crabmeat crabcake (North Shore magazine voted “best crabcake”), then their wonderful Lobster Bisque soup, then split an order of their steamed Alaskan King Crab legs with side of melted butter, then try the in-season special, three delicious soft shell crabs sautéed in lemon, garlic butter, all with great veggie sides, and end it all with Key Lime Pie and Homers Peppermint Ice Cream with Hot Fudge sauce. Hot Intelligentsia coffee drinks and specialty tea capped it all off, and we were very happy. Shaw’s has the seafood dining experience down to a perfect science.

I'm always a little leary of seafood when we're nowhere near the ocean, but this place is pretty good. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. I had the MD lump crab cake, which was very good. Next time, I would like to try the family style crab dinner.

Seafood from the oceans is just not a natural ting fro Chicagoans. They do have the lake, but other than a few landlocked species, there isn't much coming from Lake Michigan. But Shaws has been in Chicago for a while and they do serve up some nice seafood. Personally, I like Bob Chin's better, but you can't go wrong with Shaw's. The Oyster bar is very good.

Tough action to do good seafood in Chicago, but they did pretty well. We had an enjoyable evening, and would go back.

Another good chain that does it right. Really strong with shellfish

and tuna, less so with other fish, in my opinion. Very, very consistant,

however, which isn't easy to do with seafood establishments.

Great, perfect service and very nice, mellow atmosphere, although

I hear that "mellow" isn't always the case.

Exceptionally good seafood, particularly the crab and oysters. The dining atmosphere is terrible, however, with tables jammed so close together that you are practically sitting in th laps of the next table. The place is a zoo: people yelling over the din and lots of yuppies braying into cell phones. Definitely not the place for an intimate dinner. Expensive food and drinks.

A bit pricey but what else can I expect for fresh seafood in the midwest? The service is excellent and the food is always great. I am not a big fan of the decor of the dining area, a little too dark and crowded.

Oysters! Forget the soup. Get the rather decent selection ofoysters and you won't regret it. Next door, they have live music (blues, I think).

We had dinner, busy place and very casual but the best seafood in Chicago. Our server was fun and patient. I had ordered the wrong entree and they returned it with a smile and gave us a new entree. The dunganess crab is wonderful with their garlic or lemon butter. The muscles in pasta also great. A fun place to go to get the best seafood around.

We took our top accounts there and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Service was excellent! Food was excellent. It was the place to be. It was a little on the noisy side but great other than that.
