The Chop House is consistently the best in terms of the quality of the steak. I have NEVER had a steak there that was fatty or grisly. If you love steak that is crusty on the outside and tender on the inside there is no better place to go.

The restaurant is beautiful. It has this old fashioned charm to it. If you go on the weekend, you will probably want reservations. Their escargots are delicious! For an entree, the king salmon is a good choice. So are the pork chops and lamb chops. If you're a steak person, you can't go wrong either. The NY strip is large & in charge!

The steaks were very good for 2 out of 3 diners in our group. The 3rd person ordered rare but it came like the other 2 which were ordered medium well. Had to send it back but they were very apologetic and I felt they did everything possible to overcome this error. We all left happy in the end.

I guess I am the only one ( and my family of 3) who were totally let down here!!! Only visited once, and we had to send back three of the steaks that were tough as doornails..(prime rib) theyre speacialty. Never a reason to give a second chance with 3 out of four bad steaks

Felt a bit rushed, and the food was just good. Steak was a good bit past medium rare. Service was just okay. First place in Chicago I've been that didn't leave me thinking that they can do it better here. Doubtful I'd return.

Good steaks, although I've seen the Chop House names as best steak house in Chicago on several occasions and would prefer Gibsons, Smith & Wollensky's or Eli's. Overall, good but not great.

I was a little disappointed. This is billed as one of the top ten

steak houses in the country. Don't get me wrong, its good.

But I would say its in the top 50 steak places. Portions are large,

service is good.

The steak is unbeatable. It is so tender that it literally cuts itself. This is one the very few places that actually has good steak. It's a Chicago classic.

I dined at the Chop House during a recent visit to Chicago and wasn't overly impressed. Granted the food was very good, but it wasn't what I expected from a restaurant that has received so many exceptional reviews from notable newspapers and travel guides. The portions were large and the prices were what I would expect to pay for a steak in downtown Chicago, but the service was lacking - the restaurant seemed less than prepared for the large Saturday evening crowd. I felt like a tourist and felt rushed to leave the building by my waiter.
