I eat here nearly everytime I go to Dallas. #43 is by far the best dish, chicken marinated in lemon grass, with sweet sauce, steamed veggies and rice. The soup with the pineapple in it is heavenly and actually my favorite thing on the menu. It's called Vientamese Hot and Sour Soup. I like it with the shrimp. They are large shrimp and they are pre-cooked and added last, so they don't make the soup taste fishy. Everytime I have gone there, the service has been excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

The food was okay a little pricey for Vietnamese food, but okay. If you looking for good real Vietnamese food, then your in the wrong area and place. You need to go to either garland or Arlington, not Dallas.

Having been given a crash course in vietnamese cuisine over the last year, I was sorely disappointed with the fare at the Green Papaya. After waiting more than ten minutes to be put on the list to wait, and another twenty minute wait while a table opened up, I suppose I may simply of expected more of the food. It's not that the food was bad - it was only vaguely related to the dishes I've come to know from Vietnamese restaraunts. I have learned to enjoy the light flavor and simple ingredients when I go for this cuisine; what I ordered (rice noodles with tofu and vegetable) was an overwhelmingly rich dish, however. Pan-fried in butter (enough that it was coagulating onto the dish by the time I left) to call it rich is almost an understatement - the tofu was literally sweeter and richer than most cheesecakes I've had. In short, the food was pretty much the opposite in tastes and cooking styles of the pho and other rice noodle dishes I've grown accustomed to; which may not be necessarily bad but will put off those seeking a familiar cuisine. I tend to think of this as "colonized Vietnamese" now - it definitely has a strong French sensibility.

Awesome Food!! Everything is good. #34 is my favorite, in addition to the shrimp and/or chicken spring rolls.

This is the one restaurant in Dallas my friends and I drive the 100 miles from Waco especially to visit. For appetizers, the Green Papaya Sampler gives a nice selection for 2-4 people, but only 2 if you don't want to cut things in half. The Goi Cuon Tom spring rolls are a favorite, with their soft rice paper covering and crunchy interior. The Green Papaya Salad (Goi Du Du) is large enough to make a meal in itself, and is delicious. Most people would run out of room with just those items, and be well satisfied. However, they would then miss the many scrumptious salads, soups, and entrees, both with meat and vegetarian. Without going into excruciating detail, I will just recommend the Com Ga Noi Dat (chicken and mushrooms), the Bo Luc Lac (seared beef with garlic and cracked black pepper), and any plate of flat noodles. The French coffee with condensed milk (Ca Phe Phin) is the perfect topper to a fine meal. To view their menu and other info, go to http://www.greenpapaya.net/
