We also went back to try the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich. It was awesome! The bartender also suggested we try to burrito - black bean, chicken or beef - he said it's really good. We may try that next time.

We just had to try the burgers! We went with a standard cheeseburger and we weren't dissapointed! Very good flavor and the fries were good too! We like the bar atmosphere and the service was prompt and friendly. We'll go back again before we leave Texas and I'm sure we'll visit again whenever we come back to Austin.

If your idea of comfort food involves chiles, don't pass up Shady Grove. The inside dining area, with its Texas kitsch roadhouse decor and cushy booths, is plenty comfortable, but most people head for the large, tree-shaded patio when the weather permits. After a day of fresh air at nearby Zilker Park, a hearty bowl of Freddie's Airstream chili might be just the thing. All the burgers are made with high-grade ground sirloin, and if you've never had a Frito pie (Fritos topped with Airstream chili and cheese), this is the place to try one. Large salads -- among them, noodles with Asian vegetables -- or the hippie sandwich (grilled eggplant, veggies, and cheese with pesto mayonnaise) will satisfy the less carnivorous. The quintessential laid-back Austin restaurant, it naturally has live music on the patio from April through October (except during Aug).

Shady Grove trys to trick people into thinking its cool to eat outside. This, in Texas, is true one month out of the year. The food is ok, dont expect anything too great. And, oh yeah, its overpriced. I WILL SAY THE LEMONAIDE IS FANTASTIC. So go and order one drink it outside, enjoy the day, then leave.

The food is O.K. but the atmosphere is great. Catch Unplugged at the Grove, their free concert series during the summer.

Good food and a nice atmosphere. This place is really all about the patio, which is decorated with many odds and ends to give this place a local feel.

A real favorite. The best outdoor atmosphere that I can think of, and I don't like to eat outside. Nicely priced.

A place called "Shady Grove" has got to be great for al fresco dining, right? Right.
Located along restaurant row (Barton Springs Rd.).
Good burgers and drinks.

I love this place! The atmosphere was excellent...don't go if you don't have time to hang out because it's a great place to relax. The food was pretty good, wonderful burgers. The waitress we had was very thoughtful. I highly recommend!

Although the food here definitely is not the best in town, some of the side dishes are wonderful. The soups are great. In reality, though, you pay for the atmosphere and location here.

The patio is great. The food is usually good, but can be inconsistent. Great place to chill and drink a brew or two.

Yummy! Great burgers, Ceasar Romero salad with jalapeno ranch dressing, corn fritters (not on the menu but available on request), my sister loves the Hippie sandwich and I like the turkey sandwich. The soups are all great.
