Several years ago, by chance, I happened upon Panjshir in Falls
Church, the smaller original retaurant. Since then, I have become
a regular, visiting every 2 months. Panjshir II is a bigger place
in Vienna. The food is excellent. The specialty is kabobs on long
skewers--beef, chicken, lamb, or a combo thereof. They are done
to perfection, compeltely ungreasy, and marinated for 48 hours
before cooking. The accompanying rice is frgrant basmati with
a delicate tomato sauce and a spicier mint chutney. This is not
a quick take out place, but a full service, sit-down restaurant
with good, pleasing decor and excellent personal service by
the members of the family who own this place. Highly recommended.
