In the year 2002 it is so great to know that this kind of place still has a place in our hearts (and pockets, too). The Sportsman's Lodge has been located on the same corner for so many years now and you have to know that the property is worth too much to keep this place going much longer. Quite a few dining options are available here, but the quality of the food seems to keep up with the times. Management is doing a pretty good job here, too. Hold a good thought for the Sportman's Lodge, as it is a throw back (50+ years or so)...

Good food. I've gone there for 35 years. You used to be able to catch your own trout in their pond!!!

Sportsman's Lodge has includes several restaurants, but the main restaurant is excellent, both in food and atmosphere. A koi pond wraps around the main dining area, with an artificial waterfall visible through the glass walls and ducks and swans swimming on the surface. Inside, expect cloth napkins and nice, thick table clothes. Besides the usual prime rib and other normal good restaurant entrees, there is a surprising variety of seafood. Everything is served with something extra - usually a vegetable garnish. The bar area adjoining the dining room hosts karaoke twice a week. Call to verify the nights. (818) 789-5500. The amateur singers are much better than you would expect in a karaoke setting. The hotel complex is at 12833 Ventura Boulevard

in Studio City, on the corner of Ventura Boulevard and Coldwater

Canyon, with the restaurant on the Ventura Boulevard side.
