We went there for lunch. It is a small place with additional seating outside. We were lucky and had an open table as soon as we walked in. The service was very good. We had the appetizer spring rolls and they were fresh and tasty. We both had the Yellow Curry Chicken w/Potatoe. Very good flavor and spices. I enjoyed this place and will return.

I have been to Thai Basil three or four times over the years and have been disappointed each time.
I have been to Thailand several times and my wife is Thai. We have a reasonable idea about what *authentic* Thai food should taste like. Thai Basil ain't it.
The dishes are very Americanized and the spice level is low. The portions are big and the service is good, but I would rather have a true Thai taste than this junk.
I wish there was a 1.5 star rating, as I really feel Thai Basil's food belongs between average and awful.

It's ok, a big greasy, I like other Thai places better - Thai Majic, Thai Orchid, etc.

This place is awesome. Nice and spicy... just the way I like it. The service is pretty good too. Prices are very great for the quality.

Food is excellent and, once seated, the service is quick. Unfortunately, especially at lunch, the restaurant can become very crowded with vcery long waits.

Comments: I went here for dinner last night. The atmosphere of this place is small and cafe-like. When I arrived, there was only one couple eating there. As I was eating, the place became PACKED with people (strange since I went about 7:15). I received adequate service but nothing exceptional. The food was pretty good. I had the spring rolls appetizer ($5.95) and they were quite good, though unevenly cooked (some burned and some not). I had the vegetarian special ($7.95), which consists of tofu, onions, green/red bell peppers, and other things...it was pretty good (I did have mild tonight). Then I had Coconut Ice Cream for dessert ($1.95) and it was basically Haugen Dauss but okay. Thai Basil is a good place to have adequate Thai food at a reasonable price.

Order the #23 dinner menu, and ask for tofu instead of the meat. Require it to be extra spicy along with a glass of Thai ice tea.

Combo is absolutely SUPERB!!!!

Probably one of the best Pad-Thai noodles in Sunnyvale. They use lots of fresh ingredients. The restaurant is not very large, so be sure to make reservations if going during peak hours.

Good place, but surely not one of the best. Very standard stuff, and the quality of cooking varies a lot. Come here for a quick meal, but probably not for the serious gourmet.

I thought the food was good and nicely portioned. It was not too much for lunch and not too little either. A good value too. The food was medium spicy as far as Thai food goes and they will make it more or less spicy if you ask. Decent service, quick for lunch.

The food was ok, but the service ruined the meal. The waiter was not very friendly. I wont go into details exept to mention that my friend found a fly in his meal. My friend mentioned he would like something diferent but the waiter only offered to not charge him. I think he should have been treated to another item to say the least. The waiter seemed to be avoiding giving us anything for our trouble. We asked for Chicken satay but he said they were out. He didn't even give him a menu to pick something else. I think good service is a major part of a good meal, and I was disapointed here.

This is a small, pleasant restaurant. It has a cozy feel, although the tables are too small for four people. The food was fairly good, but unremarkable. I don't mean to say it was bad, or that it wasn't a pleasant meal, but the remarks of the previous writers suggest to me that they have not had real Thai food.

Good food with fresh ingredients. I went there for lunch, and the lunch specials (rice + entree) were all listed as $4.95 - $5.95, which is great for the quality of the food you get. I had #9 on the list (don't remember the name, but it was one of the $5.95 dishes), which was a sweetened chicken stir fry with peppers and onions. The chicken was flavorful and the vegetables were crisp and not overcooked. The coconut ice cream and Thai iced coffee (both $1.50) were good also. My only complaint is that the food portions for lunch could be bigger but this seems to be the norm in the Thai places I've been to. It's a very small place, and I'd imagine that it could get crowded during the peak lunch hours.

Very good for Lunch, though a bit crowded, so get there early. The Duck is excellent, we have this each time we go there. Beware of a new batch of chilies/peppers as the spice level increases dramatically! Overall, an excellent place & highly recommended.

I found Thai Basil to be very good. Foods were all freshly prepared to order, flavors were sharp and bright, presentation was OK - nothing fancy. We ordered the Thai Basil Chicken, the Red Curry Beef, Pad Thai, and a chicken Satay for an appetizer. All were excelent, only the Basil Chicken was spicy. I don't remember the Thai names of these dishes. They have no bar, so they buy drinks from the bar next door. This place is very small - only about 10 tables. We were there when they opened at 5:30 and by 5:45 all the tables were full.

Authentic Thai food. The best Thai restaurant we've ever eaten at. Every dish is excellent. The eggplant specials are fantastic! We try something new there every time and have never been disappointed. The service is friendly and prompt. The prices are very reasonable considering the quantity and quality of the food. The only drawback is the size. It probably has fewer than a dozen tables and they fill up fast on Friday and Saturday nights. The shops nearby, however, are good to visit while waiting for a table. They do accept reservations so you can call ahead. A recent review in a local paper said they have plans to expand. Also, they are not open on Sunday nights but that might also change with expansion. Call first.

I don't know why I like this place, wait... Yes I do, I love this place -- talk about really spicy food. Your average thai place (such as thai spoons) can't come close to the amount of spicyness served with a variety of the entrees. This place is a little 'hole in the wall' at the end of Murphy street, dinner is served with good plates and cloth napkins, service is very prompt and curteous. Lunch servings are about half portions of those at dinner, but includes a very hearty portion of steamed rice. My favorite is the #1 which is a chopped chicken, basil, onions, and pepper dish with a very spicy sauce (which you can specify the degree of spicyness) I believes it's called Kae Kra Prow, but I don't trust my spelling enough to be sure :)...

Small place with a limited menu as compared to some of the other Thai restaurants. But the food is excellent! Nice and spicy... just the way I like it. The service is pretty good too. Prices are very reasonable too. Two thumbs up!!
