This was not an overwhelming good experience. The restaurant is huge
and rustic. When we were seated, there were maybe 50 diners in the huge
room. No lack of help. Before we physically sat down, someone appeared
and plopped down two salads (soggy and limp lettuce, oil & vinegar
- no choices offered)and a basket of rolls. The a waiter appeared;we
ordered two beers and he immediately asked for our dinner orders. We
told him that we'd talke about that when the drinks came. Soon the waiter returned and plopped our drinks on the table (no effert
to pur) and then hung over the table (the room was extremely noisy and
he had to virtually hang over the table so we could talke to him). He asked
what we wanted. We asked for a menu! He made no effort to get a menu and
said"Just about everybody knows what they want when they come
in". Then he told us they had any type of steak we would want (no
prices mentioned). We asked if they had seaffood and he quickly recited
the names of some fish (grouper, salman, tune, etc.). When asked if
they had crab, he said they had a Crab Au Gratin dish - my wife immediately
ordered that. I opted for broiled Grouper. At that time the waiter recommended
the Key Lime Pie and, at his insistance, we order that at that time.
The Crab was claw meat in a cheese sauce. There was no back fin crab meat
in the dish. It was $14.95 - a fact we discovered when the check arrived).
This is not recommended. The broiled Grouper was excellent and it, too, was $14.95 (again, on
the check). We never got the Key Lime Pie - just the check! Twice a bus boy appeared and wanted to take our plates while we were still
eating! As noted, this is very noisy. When we left the restaurant was probably
1/4 full. We sat down about 6:15pm and were outside at 6:50pm. If you want to see a menu, I guess you'll have to look at the menues
printed in the phone book or the restaurant guides found throughout
the area.
