Iberia Restaurant I still remember the first time when I went to Iberia restaurant, I invited my girlfriend because I was dating her, and she is the type of person that she enjoys a good food in the restaurant more than ever. I wanted to give a good impression to her, my coworker told about that restaurant so we went there and once we went there she was so impressed because of the food; in fact, after 10 years of marriage she still like to going to the restaurant. Food is excellent. Ramon

Good but not as good as others in the area. If you are looking for a real rodizio this will not impress.

My boyfriend took me here after we returned from our vacation in punta cana where we ate fish everyday, and we also did a med cruise last october. The food here is fabulous. I am still thinking about the huge dish of seafood he ordered for us; lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels, squid, scallops, some type of white fish, with rice. It was amazing!!!!!!!!! I enjoyed this as much as any seafood dish I had in Spain (maybe even more). I thought the service was just right. If you are a real seafood lover go here. I don't want the wait staff hanging on me, just bring me my fresh, delicious seafood and let me enjoy. I am from Philly and haven't had a meal as good as this since. Hope he takes me back soon!!!!!

Food used to be much better, quality went down. Went with a family member and we were ignored most of the time. We had the rudest waiter in the world.. totally apathetic.. Emilio. When it came time to pay the bill, the bill was $95, no small change. My son tipped him exactly the number of times he came to our table, 4 times.. $4.00. Once to give us menus, once to bring our appetizers, once to bring our meal and once to bring the check. We had to practically tackle him for service.

This kind of service was repeated by other waiters 2 other times I was there. I'm finished with Iberia!

Big location at the heart of the Ironbound section. Generous portions of food that are no better or worse than what is found elsewhere. I heard the waitstaff was rude, but I guess it depends upon whom you get.

We live near Princeton, NJ and My Son saw this restaurant in a Gourmet magazine in Atlanta, Ga. and wanted to have dinner there when He came up to visit. We were all so impressed with the wonderful food, drink and the excellent service at Iberia, that we recommend Iberia to everyone! My Son was so impressed that he called friends from his cellphone telling them how good Iberia was. Thank you for giving us a new "favorite restaurant" to go to. Can't wait to go back very soon.
Margot & Ralph Capizzi

The reviews here vary from 1-5 star. We visited Iberia Tavern last week for the first time. We arrived with a party of 6 including 2 toddlers and were seated promptly during Saturday night dinner hours. The food was fantastic and served with generous portions. Service was prompt and attentive. I was impressed by the professionalism of our waiter. We're use to college age servers where service is hit or miss at most restaurants we frequent.
I'm not sure if we caught Iberia on a good night or what, but I would definitely return.

Well, first of all, this restaurant should be closed. I don't know who taught owners of this restaurant education about hygiene. Dim lights help to cover all the dust in the walls. I stepped in 2 times thinking it was just one of those maintenance days. NO! I think owners pay hygiene inspectors very good to keep away this place to be closed. We all know Newark is not San Francisco Bay, but when you ask about a restaurant you think about some place nice and clean. Service is the worst you can experience!!! Expect to argue with one of those portuguese wanna be waiters. They are far away to be kind and respectful; somebody should instruct them BASIC aspects about good manners and education...but well, the owner is there just to earn money to sell and fool customers with also doubtful quality food. Some prices are expensive for the poor quantity and quality of dishes you will get. The famous rodizio is a bullshit, unless you have a whale stomach you will enjoy the whole thing....oh I almost forgot, you CAN'T share the rodizio otherwise expect to have a new argue. Food is just a cheap copy of Portuguese Cuisine. Do you know what? Instead of driving there, go online, look up for Portuguese Recipes, buy the ingredients and have a dinner for yourself or your guests...you never know you might be an excellent Chef. In the other hand, fly to Spain or Portugal and figure out why this food isn't original.

Finally, my advice, don't go to eat in that restaurant neither if you are in a hurry or starving to death. It doesn't worth any penny of your wallet, neither to have a bad day with the personnel. Make a sandwich for yourself or look up a "REAL RESTAURANT"

P.S. This opinion goes also for the other Iberia Restaurant that is located in front. One star is still too much to rate this place.

Thank you, Giorgio Pasciolla

FIRST OF ALL, I AGREE WITH TONI & PAMELA THE SERVICE THERE IS DISGRACEFUL, THE WAIT PERIOD IS LUDACRIS, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S NOT THAT CROWDED. THE STAFF DOESN'T GREET THE CUSTOMER'S, THEY STARE YOU IN THE FACE AS IF YOUR IN THE WRONG PLACE. SECONDLY THE PRICES FOR FOOD IS BONKER'S, A DAM LOBSTER MEAL WITH LITTLE RICE AND CHEAP ASS SALAD, COST'S $65.90.I PREFER NOT TO EAT IN SUCH PLACE LIKE THIS, IF I'M PAYING $69.50 FOR A MEAL, THEN I WANT THE QUALITY SERVICE A CUSTOMER SUPPOSE TO HAVE.

I found this restaurant to be dark and cramped in appearance, rude and rushed service staff with an average meal selection. The entrees themselves were merely average, although the seafood portions were adequate. The Raddichio was rapidly served leaving no room to enjoy the small portions which are acoompanied by rice, french fries & beans.
I went on Thanksgiving for dinner with my husband and the silverware and glasses were filthy. This was my second time there and I was not impressed.

Do not believe the hype. This place is by far the worst Spanish/Portuguese restaurant I have ever visited. The decor is dirty looking and about as inviting as a cafeteria. The service is slow and rude (hostess and wait staff). The shellfish still has sand in it. The lobster is low quality. And the salad is cheap iceberg lettuce with a slice of tomato and a sliver of cucumber. Disgusting! Go to Forno's of Spain just down the street for a truly remarkable dining experience!!!

Another of the great Portuguese/Spanish restaurants in Newark. Like the others, Iberia is famous for it's appetizers, which include shrimp in garlic sauce and Portuguese sausage. Steaks, chops and seafood, it all terrific. Don't forget to have dessert afterward with some cappuccino.

Well I haven't gone to Iberia's lately but I'm soon going on Sunday to have a meal with my friends. We usually go on sunday cuz that's better than going on Saturday or Friday. This restaurant is the best and I can't wait to meet a girl to take her there. Even though if she has already been there at least we're both be comfortable at our table.

My comments for this restaurant is that it's a very good place to dine. The food is outstanding there's always a lot of people in there. I go there even if I just want a beer and a dessert. I'll go there for anything. It's one of the best restaurants I've been to. Also, they always serve you in big portions. The waiters are all generous and helpful in answering any question we have about a plate. It's also a fast service. Not like other places that take forever to serve you. Even the wine is delicious and you have a choice of the pitcher or glasses. Obviously we choose the pitcher. My wife and I went there for our 1rst wedding anniversary on the 8th of this month of May. Iberia is our first choice of dining out when my wife does not want to cook, anyway it's good cuz I don't think my wife can cook better than this restaurant. Also, one other good reason to eat there is because they have parking. I'ts very hard to find parking on Ferry St.. In conclusion, I recommend Iberia as a number one choice to dine out, even if you want a beer. It's better than going to a bar. It's very elegant and clean. That's a very important issue, a clean eating enviroment. Anyway tonight we're going to eat at Iberia's cuz my wife doesn't want to cook. Good for me anyway. Thank you Danny Elliott

Very good Spanish-Portuguese food. Huge portions, very moderate prices. There is an adjoining private parking lot which charges $5.00. At dinner you can present your parking ticket to your waiter, and they will take the $5.00 off your dinner bill. There are two rooms in the restaurant, one more casual than the other (although both rooms are casual). We have always preferred the "fancier" room since it is less noisy. Downside: the tables are really close to one another, and getting out (i.e. squeezing between the chairs at the other tables) can sometimes take some doing.
