Unlike traditional korean dishes, they serve food tidy and clean. For such reason, their food may appeal to non korean customers. Gaesung is a city in north korea. Their food may be north korean style but I am not sure. One thing I know is that their food is below average korean food. However, if you are not a korean, does it matter?

I didn't think the place was any special. The keep the place real clean which is nice but as far as food, nothing special. Taste no better then any other korean places I've been to and they charge alot more. Survice sucks.

This is by far the best Korean food-possibly in the Bay Area. The food is fresh and prepared, according to a Korean I know, in an almost home made style. Their menu is far from the typical Korean BBQ buffet. Gaesung is truly unique among Korean restuarants. The prices are reasonable considering the labor that is involved in preparing many of the side dishes. You really can't knock the price. If it will keep them in business, I don't mind if they raise the prices a little. If the service was a little better, Gaesung would be 5*. At busy times, the service lacks.

This is the healthier alternative to typical Korean BBQ places. The food is very fresh and tasty. Lately, I have noticed that the prices have been climbing. There is a lot of garlic used in their food (kim-chee, etc.), but they provide some gum at the end to freshen your breath. The menu is limited, so you will only come here for the tofu.
