My husband and I were on the way back from Sturgis and saw the signs for Al's Oasis. I was craving a buffalo burger and he a steak. It was the worst hamburger I have ever eaten. It tasted like nothing and my husband's steak tasted like liver. We only saw our waiter twice, once to bring us our drinks and once to bring us our dinner. He seemed like a nice person but when I complained to the cashier about our dinner, all she said was "I'm sorry...that'll be $37.50. Don't eat here! It was terrible!!!!

I've always loved this place! Originally being from the Eastern side of South Dakota, we would always make sure to stop here when traveling to the Black Hills or West Coast. Now living in La Vista/Omaha, NE, we are going to the Black Hills next week. We're going up and through South Dakota, even though it will take longer to get to where we are staying, just so I can eat at Al's Oasis!

Absolutely the best buffalo burgers in the world. If you like buffalo meat then you have to try these burgers. I'm not even sure waht else they have because I've only ever had there buffalo burgers, but those alone are worth the stop on the way through the state

Was on my way east on I90 at 5:30 P.M. with wife and adult daughter and we had not eaten since 8A.M.. Was still 90 miles from motel in Mitchell and didn't want to wait an hour and a half before eating. Al's Oasis was a nice suprise. Waitress was new but tried hard and did O.K.. Food was very good and prices were reasonable. Salad bar was first rate. We'd eat there again with out a doubt.

Not a bad place to stop at and get out of the car for a little while for a meal. The buffalo burgers are good and if you're in the mood for dessert the pie goes great with a cup of coffee!

Ate at the Oasis tonight based off the reviews I read online. What a rip off! This place is a TOTAL TOURIST TRAP! A burger and fried for my daughter ran $7, while the steak I ordered cost me $20!
The seating is on bench tables. The restaurant was busy at the time and we shared our "table" with four other parties of diners. Absolutely no privacy at all. The service was poor, the prices outrageous, and the food wasn't all that good!
And that pie which gets such rave reviews? The apple pie was missing it's top crust. I'd expect a little more for the $4 it cost me. : (

Low prices for some of the best food you'll ever have make Al's Oasis a must when passing on through I-90. I suggest a hot beef sandwiche and a pie for desert. mmmmmmm goooood!!

you haven't lived if you haven't visited this place, this is some of the best food i have ever tasted we go camping in south dakota every year and always stop here on the way there and the way back, the steaks are scrumpous, but the thing their known for is their pies and the sizeof piece you recieve it's the best pie in the world to me, coconut creme is my favorite and the size of the piece is off the richter scale, it's a must have, please go there it's the best i don't ever want to see this place go, it's a classic.
