I have been going to the Black Steer since I was a child in the 1970's.
The decor has not changed since they opened, very 1970's
nostalgia, gotta love it! The food is very good, worth the 1 hour
wait. Seating is not a problem, or lines just very slow service.
Plan on having a few drinks while you wait. Very, very cool place
and AWESOME steaks. The best part is the hommade creamy garlic
dressing. One can't beat the green shrimp either. Dress
is casual.

We have been going to the Black Steer for many years. Although
the service is slow, the food is worth the wait. Salads are so-so,
however, the Black Steer provides homemade salad dressings
which are top-notch (especially the Bleu Cheese).
Steaks are cooked to order, and are prepared exactly as you requested
(as to rare, medium, etc). Best steaks we have ever had. Definately
worth a trip back each year while on vacation!
Dress is casual, as are most places in the Midwest.
