My husband and I ate at this restaurant after spending the day driving around Rapid City and Mt. Rushmore. We weren't dressed to the tee and were very tired, but we has excellent service, the food was delicious, the wine was wonderful, and the dessert was extraordinary. We were on vacation and it was an amazing find.

Botticelli is my absolute favorite italian restaurant. I travel over several states and go well out of my way to dine there. Every main course I have tried has been excellent...but make sure to save room for the canoli. They are truly awesome.

So I've read over everyone's comments and it's disappointing that some folks just don't know excellent food and service when they receive it. Botticelli Ristorante has the best Italian/seafood dishes in the US! I'm not from Rapid, but from a big city and have traveled to many big cities and Botticelli holds the #1 spot. :) For those that choose to consider the staff "arrogant and snobby, " stop to consider they are knowledgable about their job, the entrees, and wine selection. They don't hire anyone in tight pants like The Firehouse or Sanford's, the manager takes time to interview those with experience and knowledge in the fine restaurant business. :) They're not out to get you for what you wear, who you're with, or how much you spend, but to better serve you by suggesting the best. Americans tend to want things their way, right away, in large amounts, and for cheap, but quality takes time. Keep that in mind when you head out for a fine dining experience. You make the experience, not the food or staff. I say the way to enjoy a fine meal is an appetizer, a fine wine, your dinner, and then an excellent dessert with another fine wine. Try it sometime, you're missing out if you haven't experienced this yet. Give it a try :)

My wife and I have been all over the world and have experienced fine dining at its best. The quality of service and cuisine at Boticelli is excellent, especially considering its location. We also enjoy the fine wine list offered at this restaurant. In response to some of the other comments regarding the conduct of the staff- there are certain ways to eat and prepare food, just as there is a proper way to pour wine. By adhering to these rules, we preserve the integrity of the experience. If you are going to dine at a proper Italian restaurant, you should not expect to have butter with your bread, nor should you request it. Also, the way you conduct and present yourself should reflect your surrounding environment, and believe it or not, oftentimes your appearance and etiquette dictate the quality of service you receive.

The bread here is very good. However, the service is bad to worse unless you appear to be wealthy or important. I have had good service in large groups of business type looking people but if my husband and I go in together they are rude and slow. If I go in with a group of friends, 20-30 year old age range, we also tend to get rude and slow service. This establishment comes across as snobby and that is not appropriate especially in Rapid City, SD. The food is okay but the service really takes away from that.

So if your up for some real food, this is the place!
If you are like the rest of the people who didn't like this place and complain about the cost. Just go to McDonalds, you don't have enough class for this place!! lol

I have traveled all over the country and love Italian food. This restaurant compairs with many upscale places in Denver, Chicago and Washington. The biggest difference is the prices, they are much better here. To get the same quality food anywhere else would cost you more.
You can get larger potions and cheaper food elsewhere in town, but you won't get the quality! If you are serious about Italian food which the chef takes pride in cooking this is the place to be. If you want cheap, go to McDonalds....

The prices are far too high for the amount of food that you get. The portions are tiny and the waiters are so arrogant that they nearly seem rude. They made me uncomfortable. I left feeling as though I had not had more than a tiny snack. VERY over rated by the rich people in this town.

I can only comment on lunch because that is the only meal I ate or will ever eat at Botticelli's. The food was excellent, however, Boticelli's fatal flaws are their miserly portions and arrogant wait staff. When the person I was dining with asked for butter for her bread instead of olive oil, she was told that's how the bread is supposed to be eaten--with olive oil, and her request was ignored. I orderd ravioli which was obviously freshly made, but I was served four small ravioli with two or three tablespoons of marinara sauce on it. There are too many Italian restaurants in the area offering friendly, helpful service and realistic portions of fresh, good Italian food.
