Sarah S.   -   Goodness, where do I begin... Last night, 6 of my girlfriends joined myself, my boyfriend, and my two year old daughter for dinner at Angus House to celebrate my birthday. Shortly after we arrived, my boyfriend stepped around the corner of the table to help my daughter choose and butter her bread. As he stepped back to take his seat beside me, there was a crash and when I turned to where he stook he was face down on the floor. I initially panicked, because he is a diabetic and I was afraid he had collapsed. However, it wasn\\\'t that HE had collapsed, but the FLOOR VENT the length of my arm beneath him!! This poor man had fallen through the floor up to his HIP! Not only was this a dangerous situation, but how embarrassing for him! One of the employees also told us personally that this was the SECOND time something like this has occurred. One would think that the immediate reaction of anyone who worked, owned, managed that establishment would be to help the man up off of the floor and offer a sincere apology. However, not only did this man have to pull himself up out of the hole, but he also was ignored and, ultimately, treated as a fraud who was only after a free meal!! A couple of men scurried over and placed a CHAFING DISH that was intended to hold the vent in place, as well as the weight of anyone or anything that should press on the vent. What completely infuriated me was that one of these men was the owner of the Angus House, who walked right past our entire table and did not so much as look at any of us. I peered down in that hole and my gut sank thinking what would have happened had that been my tiny Eliza that had fallen into a hole that deep. This man is very lucky that no one was critically injured because that would mean the end of his restaurant. I am very disappointed. Not only did it take hours to rectify this ridiculous situation (while the diabetic still hadn\\\'t eaten!!), but we were treated like criminals after a free meal ticket which I can assure you, is not the case. I will NOT be going back to the Angus House....if it is even open for much longer less

nikkip   -   I own a small company in Texas and each year I host a client celebration party in New York. This year we booked our party at Southern Hospitaity at the 9th street location - to be held on Thursday, 3/14/2013. Of course, the restaurant was happy to book the party and as most establishments do, they asked me to guarantee the party of 25 people with a credit card. Restaurant booked....invitations sent out....and all guests have RSVP\\\'d. Today, the event coordinator from the restaurant called to tell me they were BUMPING my party for another group coming to the restaurant. (Obviously, the \\\"other\\\" group booked AFTER we did.) She just kept saying it was \\\"out of her hands\\\". She was condecending and totally detached from the how this situation was going to affect me...the customer. The more condescending she was, the angrier I became. It was like she didn\\\'t feel that I should have any reason to be angry! After all, she suggested, I could just have my party on another night. I guess the \\\"guarantee\\\" only went one way!...ie, If my party didn\\\'t show up I would be charged. But , apparently, the restaurant didn\\\'t feel they had to guarantee that they would also honor their end of the contract. When I asked her what group was bumping us, she said it was the owners and stock holders of the restaurant, and that they were closing the restaurant to the public for the day. (maybe they\\\'re hoping for a sighting of Justin T.) If I were a stock holder of this restaurant I would be LIVID! It would be very hard for me to believe that the owners & stockholders would be OK with losing revenue AND losing customers in this manner. (Because it was a private party with selected menu...the cost was to be close to $50. per person plus tax & grat) I hadn\\\'t taken the time to read the review sights before this incident, but based on the customer reviews I\\\'m now seeing, it seems to me that the Southern Hospitaity Restaurant is STRUGGLING...STRUGGLING with VERY POOR customer service and numerous other reasons! The restaurant owners need to rethink it\\\'s name. I\\\'m from Texas...AND THIS IS NOT SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY! Nikki less

MarieR   -   Well we set out to Friendly\\\'s. as soon as we arrived, we had to wait for about 10 minutes to be seated, despite the numerous visible open tables. Finally we were seated with not so much as an offer for a high chair or anything for our 3-year old. We placed our drink orders and appetizer order and waited another twenty minutes for drinks. Meanwhile other couples had been walking in waiting for a hostess that was no where to be found. As we were waiting for our appetizer, the couple behind us complained of almonds in her food - after making it clear she had a nut allergy! The couple waiting for the hostess in front walked out because no one came to seat them. Finally the appetizer arrived. We began to eat the appetizer -which wasn\\\'t half bad - but seemed like it might have been left in the kitchen for awhile(it was barely warm). Waiting patiently for our meals as my daughter became fidgety. Two more couples walked in and walked out. After another twenty minutes the waitress brings us our check and says \\\"have a nice day!\\\" - SHE NEVER EVEN BROUGHT US OUR MEAL BUT CHARGED US FOR IT!!! We immediately told her that she never served us and then she became all flustered apologizing and hurrying back into the kitchen. She comes out one meal at a time and sets down my daughters meal. Mac n cheese with Franks. However, the hotdog was shriveled to nothing and looked as if it had been microwaved not grilled. She then claims she will compensate us with Free ice cream, however, the ice cream was already included in our meals!! While I love Friendly\\\'s as does my daughter - I would NEVER return back to this Friendly\\\'s. FYI several other couples were in front waiting to have their checks revised. Apparently the waitress had over charged several couples. They are completely UNDER staffed at that location and I DO NOT KNOW HOW THEY MANAGE TO STAY OPEN with their lack of attention to potential customers who are walking out while waiting for a nonexistent hostess... less

KatieV   -   Tonight will be the last time this restaurant will recieves my service. I have been to this locally owned restaurant a few times and every time the service has been poor. It hasn\\\'t been poor by the young waitress or waiters but by the owner. The owner today was talking about my family and I as we sat at the table, it was because we the young waitress if we could use a gift certificate that expired. She told us to ask the manager when we go to the front to pay. The waitress ended up asking the owner who then loudly talked about how we should not except that and basically saying we were stupid to ask because it has an expiration date. She continued to talk about us as we sat at the table and then started to judge us before we even got up to ask her in person. Mind you we can hear everything she is saying. We then walked up and said \\\"It sounds like you aren\\\'t going to accept this gift certificate and we understand your policy.\\\" Let her know we can hear you talking about us and aren\\\'t trying to cause a problem. The owner then goes on a rant to us that we should of been more aware of the gift certificate expiration date. We then said to her we understand your policy but from our point of view your restaurant received 50 dollars from our family friend who bought this gift certificate for our family. That 50 dollars was already given and paid to you in which no service was received and given for that money. We again said to her we aren\\\'t trying to argue with you and we accept your policy. We weren\\\'t still trying to use the gift certificate we were then trying to pay for our bill. She continued to then talk about it and being completely rude to us when we tried to drop the situation. As she continued to talk and basically tell us we are stupid for asking if they would accept it. We then said to her next time we will ask our friend not to give us a gift certificate at this restaurant and the owner said you can ask for a gift certificate where ever you want. In which we said yes we can but in asking for one not here you will lose that amount of money and service. She the responded, IT\\\'S OKAY WE DON\\\'T NEED YOUR SERVICE OR CARE ABOUT YOUR SERVICE, WE DO FINE WITHOUT YOUR SERVICE. Shocking the couple who was standing next to us trying to pay their bill as well. The owner of the restaurant just said out loud that she didn\\\'t care about our service and does fine without our service all because we asked if we could use a gift certificate given by a friend and when said no we put it away and tried to pay for the bill. Our family has had other more minor problems with the service but this one was the deal breaker for our family and for our recommendations. less

ERRTRA   -   Going downhill. Service (which was prior to the dinner rush) was slow. Bread was salty like street pretzels. Calamari appetizer had so much jalepeno it ruined my pallete. Main course was ok (discounting my ruined pallete), but easily could have cooked myself at home for 1/4 the cost. less
