THE GOOD AND BAD - We are local and have gone to Pop's for years, decades actually! A little pricey especially last few years as prices everywhere have risen; but they give you an enormous portion which does lessen the pain. I usually take some home with me. Great New England style (thin) onion rings, great whole clams and all the sea food delights. The platter is very expensive but the size will blow you away – plenty for a couple to share! BUT - A few times in 2011 and our first trip in June 2012 our food has been overcooked. This was disappointing as we waited all winter for the opening! Clam strips were just crunchy crust way over cooked and my wife's haddock was done a min or so too long causing it to be drier and tougher than normal. Pops has a great upper deck sitting area where you can overlook Lake Winnipesaukee and even a sit in dining area with AC under the deck. If there is an unused picnic table by the water we love to go across the street to eat. During the Saturday evening Summer Concert series, 4th of July fireworks and other occasions we bring our chairs and little snack tables to sit and listen to various bandstand shows. We buy our food at POPS and bring it across the street in provided trays to the concert area. Unknown Deal: It isn't on the menu, but if they aren't real busy you can ask them to do a two-or three way plate choosing your favorite sea foods. They have the prices on a sheet inside the window. Shibley’s has a clam food shack just before you get to Pops near the small miniature golf place (and a sit down restaurant across the street) and they have good food, great haddock but they are almost as expensive and the smaller size portions makes me very upset. The better bargain is at Pop’s but they tend to overcook things, at least in my experience. Gloria and Clan less

We welcome feedback & I am trying to get in touch with the previous reviewer. Usually my staff is quite knowledgeable, attentive, & friendly. Not sure what happened the night in question but I am here most nights and would be pleased if you give me your feedback. I cannot recall an instance where I have had a complaint about portion sizes...occasionally prices, but we do cook everything from scratch. less
