He had the buffet an ... more Candace L. - Do NOT recommend. Hubby and I had been going there for years and it was always good. BUT went several weekends ago on a Saturday. He had the buffet and I ordered a scallop special since there was not much for me on the buffet as I don\'t eat meat. Our drinks were brought and he went and got a salad. He finished his salad and my food was not there yet, he was going to wait but I told him not to since it was close to the end of the buffet serving time. He went and got a plate of food and the waitress came and said my order went to the bar instead of the kitchen but it would be out soon. He finished his plate of food and my food still was not there. He was getting upset and that upset me. He normally has two plates of food from the buffet as the plates are small but he would not go and get any more. The waitress walked by again and he called her over and got more excuses and asked for the check as we were not going to wait any longer. Then the \"manager?\" (not sure as we were not told who she was) came over and as she arrived they ran out of the kitchen and put a plate in front of me. I could see that the scallops were not even fully cooked and didn\'t smell good and I surely was not going to eat them that way. They offered no discount or anything so (unfortunately) we asked them to pack it up, I figured I would finish cooking them at home and it wouldn\'t be a total waste. What a mistake that was. We do not live in Claremont and had a half hour ride home. The smell of those scallops was pretty bad. I put them in the fridge when we got home - another mistake. I had to air my jeep out with windows open for two days and the fridge had to be totally cleaned and dishes of baking soda put in and it still took a few days to get the smell out of it. If I had known they were actually BAD I never would have taken them home. We will NEVER go back there again. less

The food is amazing they have the best Chinese food in NH, my opinion anyway and I have been to tons of Chinese restaurants in MA and NH. The beef and chicken terriyaki are the bomb and the combination plates are a great value. The drinks are really good they have a great selection. The main reason I go is they have pool tables and Karaoke every night. The people watching is amazing, I must say. :o) There is truly something for everyone there. They have free poker on Sunday and Monday and just saw they will be adding Open Mic night on Wednesday s too....Check it out if you haven t already! less

They open at 11am and we visited at 11:45. The food was, despite the great selection, COLD! The Staff uncaring. Garbage.. We wont be back.

jodice - I was visiting friends in New Hampshire and they wanted to take me out for some "Real Fried Clams"...I grew up on Cape Cod where we always had the fre ... more jodice - I was visiting friends in New Hampshire and they wanted to take me out for some "Real Fried Clams"...I grew up on Cape Cod where we always had the freshest seafood, so maybe I was spoiled by that and expected the same quality. I have been living in the Mojave Desert for the last 10 years where fresh seafood is just not available...and have been hankering for real whole fried clams with the belly included. We went to the Weathervane in Bedford NH where they had whole fried clams on the menu. They were very expensive (over $20.00), but my friends said to get them anyway so I ordered the Half and Half Sea Scallops and Whole Fried Clams. We also ordered Clam Chowder. The chowder had a decided metallic taste to it which leads me to believe it is canned, not fresh and it was pretty boring. Then the dinner arrived. Instead of nice big whole belly fried clams, what I got was a big pile of clam strips with nothing resembling a belly to be seen. The "Sea Scallops" were about as big as my pinky fingernail and covered with so much breading that they were almost non existent. Now in my experience of growing up on Cape Cod, a Sea Scallop is usually about as big as a quarter and a Bay Scallop is much smaller. I was very disappointed especially at such a ridiculous price to get such a disgusting greasy pile of what was no more then garbage deep fried! My friends had ordered the $5.00 Margaritas which basically had almost no tequila in them and tasted like something from a powdered mix. To top it off, dinner for 4 came out to almost $125.00! I have had better fried clams from HoJo's! The icing on the cake was that I proceeded to get sick from the crappy dinner once we got back home. What a waste of money! They should be ashamed of themselves calling that fresh seafood! The atmosphere was definitely chain restaurant boring, the only good thing was the nice waitress. less

There are way too many nice Italian restaurants in the area to spend your hard earned money on this place. If you don't believe me check out other restaurant review websites. THE GOOD AND BAD - We are local and have gone to Pop's for years, decades actually! A little pricey especially last few years as prices everywhere have risen; but they give you an enormous portion which does lessen the pain. I usually take some home with me. Great New England style (thin) onion rings, great whole clams and all the sea food delights. The platter is very expensive but the size will blow you away – plenty for a couple to share! BUT - A few times in 2011 and our first trip in June 2012 our food has been overcooked. This was disappointing as we waited all winter for the opening! Clam strips were just crunchy crust way over cooked and my wife's haddock was done a min or so too long causing it to be drier and tougher than normal. Pops has a great upper deck sitting area where you can overlook Lake Winnipesaukee and even a sit in dining area with AC under the deck. If there is an unused picnic table by the water we love to go across the street to eat. During the Saturday evening Summer Concert series, 4th of July fireworks and other occasions we bring our chairs and little snack tables to sit and listen to various bandstand shows. We buy our food at POPS and bring it across the street in provided trays to the concert area. Unknown Deal: It isn't on the menu, but if they aren't real busy you can ask them to do a two-or three way plate choosing your favorite sea foods. They have the prices on a sheet inside the window. Shibley’s has a clam food shack just before you get to Pops near the small miniature golf place (and a sit down restaurant across the street) and they have good food, great haddock but they are almost as expensive and the smaller size portions makes me very upset. The better bargain is at Pop’s but they tend to overcook things, at least in my experience. Gloria and Clan less
