CaliGirl87   -   I'm so happy that Baja Soul opened in Birkdale. Now I can have a little taste of home whenever I want to. The ingredients are fresh and light. I had the Mahi tacos & Mexican street corn when I went the first time, I pretty much almost died from delicious overload. I also had the tableside guacamole, they literally make it right in front of you. You completely avoid the issue of having guacamole come out not perfect because you can make it the way you like. Obviously, I'm pretty excited about this new restaurant. less

They are open for breakfast and lunch and serve dishes using mostly locally grown organic produce. The owners and staff are very kind and interesting to talk to. Absolutely delicious!!! less

Anonymous   -   Hello Friends & Family!   I’m writing you to share my experience about MiMi’s Café (across the street from Northlake Mall). I generally do not send messages out like this, but I wanted the public to be aware of my experience. Yesterday, my family and I took my father, husband, and brother in law out for Father’s Day. I ordered an oven roasted turkey sandwich on toasted white bread, fries, and a strawberry lemonade.  After the food came, I proceeded to eat my sandwich, and after a few bites, discovered mold all over the bottom slice and sides my bread. It just so happened, I had brought my camera, so we could take pictures of my husband’s 1st Father’s Day. I snapped a few photos of the mold and called the waitress over to the table. I requested for the manager to come to the table immediately, as I was disgusted at the fact that I ate molded bread.  The manager (I won't mention his name), was very insensitive to the fact that I had just eaten mold and stated the following, “Sometimes the bread comes off the trucks already molded.” He implied that this HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. In addition, I advised the manager that I’m nursing a 3 month infant, and that I was very displeased with the food and service, and the potential fact I could contaminated my daughter. The manager stated, “Penicillin is made from mold, and your daughter will be fine because the doctors would give her penicillin....you can take this to a judge if you want to....and you can do whatever you want with the pictures you've taken." The manager made us feel like we were in the wrong for reporting the mold, during a busy time, as several families were there for Father's Day.  I've attached pictures of my sandwich in this email, and would like for everyone to be aware of MiMi's Cafe located across the street from Northlake Mall.  Best Regards,  Tya less

Katelyn D.   -   I had the worst experience of my life in a Kabuto's this evening. My order last week had been incorrect and I was treated disrespectfully. However, when I spoke to the manager he generously gave me $6 in gift certificates and promised me better service on my next visit. I returned today for their 50% sushi night and once again faced an incredibly long weight and staff incompetence. The manager recited our order incorrectly 4 different times. When I spoke to the manager once our checks arrived, he asked what I felt needed to be done. I explained the situation to him, and reminded him that we had spoken last week for the same problems. I told him that I was not comfortable paying for a meal I was so dissatisfied with nor did I feel I would be back. My hope was this manager would express some level of appreciation for his customers and attempt to improve the situation with promises for better service in the future, a partial comp. of the meal, etc. However, the manager simply told me "Fine, don't pay, don't come back." During this conversation he was disrespectful to my two friends and actually told one to shut up. When I stood up to exit the restaurant, a customer at another table who was clearly a regular and had received multiple plates of sushi during our wait for a relatively small order looked at me and said "Sushi is not fast food, if you want that go to McDonalds, I've been waiting even longer than you!" Rather than inform this customer that the problem was not his, and he should not incite other customers, the manager agreed with him and informed me to "Get out now." As I exited the restaurant, I was absolutely furious and hit the doors harder than I intended to. They opened rapidly and hit the walls, but no damage was done. The manager and half his staff ran out and proceeded to call the police who dismissed his complaint as there was no violence, we were already prepared to leave, and no damage was done. The manager then proceeded to be disrespectful, accusing my friends of slamming the doors and verbally abusing them even though I had actually opened the doors. He also informed us that we needed to leave because his "entire staff was ready to go." The implication was that we would be at risk of violence if we remained any longer. I have never been treated more disrespectfully at any restaurant in my entire life. I feel that I was treated poorly to begin with simply because I am a 20 year old college student and the common belief is that I will be a poor customer anyway. The situation escalated through the manager's inability to take control and act in a responsible and dignified manner. Yoshi's off of Harris Blvd. is much better for half price sushi on Wednesdays. For the best quality sushi, sushi 101, fusebox, and Nakato's are all better options. less

Victor B.   -   My wife and I went here because I had heard about this restaurant as THE place to go in Charlotte for home-style food. I must say I was disappointed by the experience! I ordered the famous fried chicken. I could tell it was not fresh because the chicken was tough to chew and was not juicy at all. I was also disappointed by the size of the side portions. I had macaroni and cheese which may have been about one single tablespoon serving. In addition, it tasted like macaroni and cheese out of a box rather than the baked macaroni and cheese which is always superior. My wife had BBQ pork which she did not enjoy as much either. The whole experience was a real let down after all the good things I had heard about the place and because I was looking forward to it so much too. We visited kind of early for lunch on the day that we went, so I don't know if it was due to the time that they had not prepared fresh food or were just not ready for the day. I noticed that there were only a couple of other diners in the restaurant when we arrived there. I remember that as one of them prepared to leave with a to-go order, he stated, "Will there be larger side portions than the ones I got on my plate?" I may give them another chance, but first impressions were not good! less
