The shows were incredible with a variety of dances from the South Pacific of which the gyrating hips from Tahiti variety quickly became my favorite. Either it was the floor shows or maybe it was their specialty drinks from French Polynesia like the Mai Tais that brought out the savage in me! Or maybe the reignited passion and romance was my wife's yearning to re-live our honeymoon years or fulfilling the fantasy of the island vacation that we promised ourselves years ago. Before the floor show, we enjoyed probably the BEST appetizers and "Low Country Shrimp Boil" that we have ever had, and at the most competitive prices. While their chefs put the finishing touches on the menu of exotic dishes using the area's fresh abundant seafood to best compliment the anticipated Island Luau Feast, this initial menu seems to be the feast of kings in itself. Although maybe a "tease" to tempt us back, our server brought us back a couple of samples of the exotic skewered "Ginger Beef" from the South Pacific "Pu Pu" platters. Little did they know that with their awesome Tahiti / Polynesian floor shows, great food, tremendous service and gift ideas from the elusive Tahiti Black Pearl, we didn't need any convincing for planning and dreaming of the many happy returns with all of our friends. Not satisfied with merely stocking up on some really unique gifts made from the elusive Black Pearls native to Tahiti, we are also planning our daughter's wedding to be here in the soon-to-be park on the Savannah River in front of the Tahiti Black Pearl. With an unforgettable reception to include a floor show along with the great island luau feast that includes a bounty of seafood, southern fried chicken and a variety of smoked, grilled, and roasted meats. Inspired and ignited by the passion and romance of a couple who recently re-united thanks to recent modern advances in remote internet service after a decades long search for each other, Tahiti Black Pearl should be on everybody's "Bucket List" of treasures to experience. One of us works on River Street so it will be good to know that we can suggest to visitors to skip The Cotton Exchange Tavern. less

A great place for the whole family. The owner even let the kids catch some live shrip from the Marina bait tank. We will be back! The hush puppys were the best i ever had. less

Well, at 1pm on Sunday afternoon, I walked right in to the buffet. The food wasn't anything you couldn't get at a church potluck but since most restaurants don't serve this, The Lady & Sons is a jewel. less

It is in a beautifully restored mansion and the dinning hall on the second floor is unbelievable. The chef has been on Iron Chef a number of times. Don't miss the scallop/shrimp fettuccine (can't remember what it's called). Also, their chocolate cake is wonderful. The icing, if it's not, certainly tastes homemade. I usually have ice cream with my cake but it would only distract from this three layer culinary triumph. Their sirloin steak is a must as well. less

This restaurant is famous for being one of the oldest restaurants in the city of Savannah. The bbq sauce is VERY sour tasting, the brunswick stew was tasteless, and their was nothing special about any of the meat that we tried. (chicken, pork and ribs) One of our kids had SEVERAL bones in her chicken salad sandwich and the waitress was positively rude about it! Obviously the chicken salad is homemade within the restaurant, as the waitress explained, but even more obvious is the sloppy manner in which they prepare their chicken salad! We are from out of town and tried this restaurant because it came recommended from a trusted friend. Our recommendation to people we come into contact with in the future will be to steer clear of Johnny Harris as the servers are rude, their food is mediocre at best, those preparing it are sloppy, and this restaurant smells like glade plug-ins rather than a mouth watering aroma of barbeque! At the very least the food should SMELL good! Also, one of their employees chose NOT to wash their hands as they left the restroom today! 85 years in business...how in the heck did that happen? less

The meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy was really good too. Loved the non-greasy, crispy, flavorful fried chicken - some of the best we've had. Pretty consistent - we've eaten at other MM's before and liked it. Cool bar - pizza is good - fresh ingredients.
